Singing Operatic Arias is like running in the Olympics.<\/h1>\n

What am I?\u00a0 No!\u00a0 Not a Bugs Bunny Skit!\u00a0 This is an excerpt of\u00a0 an Operatic Aria.<\/p>\n

Aria…what’s that?\u00a0 An “aria” noun<\/em> \\\u02c8\u00e4r-\u0113-\u0259\\\u00a0 is a self-contained piece for one voice, with or without orchestral accompaniment, normally part of a larger work.\u00a0 It’s origin is Italian meaning literally is “atmospheric air” first used in 1723.\u00a0\u00a0 And…if Opera is, as we put it in a previous blog post “The Olympics of Singing<\/a>“, the Operatic Aria (Air) is the 400 Meter Dash.<\/p>\n

Rossini,\u00a0 first performed in 1816.\u00a0 Here, the character Figaro is introduced to the audience, singing about all the things he is and does.<\/p>\n

        Here it is in Italian for our Italian-Speaking Friends…and those who might know the language.<\/p>\n

        Try just saying these words…then once you do that, say them as fast as you can, because that’s about as fast as this aria is sung.<\/p>\n
